Transforming Architectural Workflows

There at the beginning …

Our journey with Inevidesk began as early supporters of the service during its development stages. We participated in beta-testing, pushing the core software to its limits to ensure a seamless experience for architects who rely on graphic and processor-intensive tools such as Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Enscape, and many others.

We tested our usual workflows against the new environment and let our hearts out if we were unhappy with either the performance or the logic of certain manipulations over the remote desktop. Inevidesk's dedicated team patiently addressed each challenge, creating a platform that delivers a latency-free experience, tailored to the unique demands of architects.

Our close collaboration with the platform this early on allowed us to observe firsthand how the team navigated the nuanced challenges faced by architectural studios. Their tireless efforts to develop a properly sector informed solution (fuelled by the founders’ experiences of working with AEC organisations over two decades) provided a panoramic view of the industry's diverse demands. These insights proved invaluable and would ultimately serve as the catalyst for Inevidesk's groundbreaking journey into the world of desktop virtualisation.

Unlocking 'WFH'

Architectural offices, even before the pandemic, faced significant challenges in creating flexible work environments. Traditional setups often limited access to key software, complicated data management, and incurred high hardware costs. Inevidesk emerged as a transformative solution, breaking down these barriers. The virtualisation service enabled architects to access essential software tools from any location, promoting seamless collaboration. By centralising data and reducing the need for expensive workstations,

Inevidesk not only lowered costs but also enhanced collaboration and flexibility. Architects could now work together on projects in real-time, regardless of their physical location, setting a new industry standard for efficiency and adaptability.

Alternative to BIM 360

Autodesk stands as a dominant force in our architectural field and adopting 'Revit' as the primary platform for BIM production is virtually unavoidable, especially in the current landscape. While Revit inherently fosters collaboration, it does not address the challenge of working on the same project across multiple physical locations. This is both cumbersome and costly since it involved the utilisation of a dedicated Revit Server, a solution characterised by its complexity and outdated nature. This approach posed deployment difficulties and was inherently single-purpose, bordering on archaic in the modern architectural context.

BIM 360, on the other hand, emerged as a brilliant solution, residing in the cloud and alleviating the constraints of physical co-location. It elevated collaborative efforts by enabling seamless multi-disciplinary collaboration across geographically dispersed teams. However, like many Autodesk products, the drawback lay in its cost, which could be a significant financial burden for architectural firms. BIM 360 also did not cater for the wider demands of the sector, the use of other software and wider data management.

A one stop-shop

Inevidesk, however, is a cost-effective and innovative solution that addresses issues of Revit collaboration, whilst also providing a comprehensive solution for all other sector specific software. There is no need for multiple solutions – Inevidesk enables organisations to locate all workstation resource and critical services in one secure, managed location. The team even offer a competitively priced, datacentre hosted service to accommodate your virtual servers on a super-fast, highly redundant server cluster utilising a 10Gbps network. We believe this to be an easily affordable upgrade for just about any business.

Elevating infrastructure

Inevidesk has undeniably ushered in a new era of infrastructure modernisation for forward-thinking AEC organisations. With the Inevidesk platform at their disposal, these clients have not only embraced the future but have also secured a competitive edge in today's dynamic business landscape. At the core of this transformative journey lies one of Inevidesk's paramount features—scalability.

When we speak of scalability, we're referring to an innovative system where virtual machines are arranged in clusters of seven – a ‘pod’. This configuration allows for an exceptional level of flexibility and adaptability, and it's a game-changer for businesses of all sizes.

In practice, we've witnessed countless clients initiate their journey with Inevidesk by deploying a single pod of virtual machines. The beauty of this approach is that it serves as an accessible entry point, enabling businesses to experience the benefits of Inevidesk firsthand. And in our experience, they have. From enhanced performance and streamlined workflows to unparalleled security, it's a taste of the future within reach.

Empowering architects: Inevidesk and the evolution of remote work

Inevidesk's virtualisation service not only simplifies collaboration but also enhances the productivity and efficiency of architects, making it an indispensable tool in the modern architectural landscape. As the architectural world continues to evolve, we can see Inevidesk remains at the forefront, empowering architects to work smarter and more collaboratively than ever before.

The company’s commitment to delivering a latency-free experience, along with a cost-effective approach, sets it apart in an industry otherwise at the mercy of overcharging big tech vendors or languishing in twenty year old infrastructure technology. We have encouraged many of our clients to embrace the future of remote work with Inevidesk and unlock new possibilities for their architectural projects.
